Botanical Journey Travel FAQs

WHO ARE BOTANICAL JOURNEYS INTENDED FOR?

Our journeys are immersive travel experiences designed for nature appreciators of all backgrounds: flower lovers, artists, gardeners, foodies, photographers, insert your occupation here. The only requirements are a positive disposition and a curious attitude.

HOW DO FLIGHTS WORK?

While flights are not included in your booking, we are happy to discuss any travel related questions you might have regarding international or domestic flights and can connect you to our capable travel  partners to ensure a seamless booking process.

  • For England direct flights to London are available via most major cities. Flights out of New York are often available for under $500

  • For South Africa, Direct flights from the US to Johannesburg are available out of JFK, New York via South African Airways (often under $1000) and Atlanta via Delta Airlines. Depending on your departure location, connections to South Africa are also available via Europe or the Middle East. Domestic flight details for the Johannesburg-Cape Town transfer will be provided upon booking confirmation.

HOW BIG WILL THE GROUP BE?

Our groups are limited to a maximum of 10 people. By keeping it small, the emphasis is on building friendships and having a group size that can move around nimbly, often without the restrictions of a coach or being limited to hotels and restaurants geared for larger tour groups.

CAN I REQUEST A PRIVATE ROOM?

Our Botanical Journeys are designed with community in mind and as such the default accommodation provided is double occupancy. As a single we will pair you with a fellow curious traveler of the same sex to share a twin room. Depending on numbers and the destination, you may end up having your own room on some nights anyway.  We get that some people like their space and can also offer private rooms at an additional cost.  Please inquire.

WILL WE MEET ANY LOCALS?

Absolutely. This will be an immersive travel & learning experience, designed to connect you with local craftspeople, botanical experts and friends.

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL VACCINATIONS/MEDICATION ETC?

Please consult your physician for advice regarding necessary or advisable vaccinations or medical precautions. Note that for  safari, the reserve is in a Malaria free area of the country.

DO I NEED A VISA?

We advise all guests to check the latest government sites relevant to your citizenship. American citizens please check the latest travel requirements provided by the South African Consulate.

DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Yes, all guests are required to provide us with a copy of their comprehensive medical and travel insurance one month prior to departure.

IS OUR DESTINATION SAFE?

With all travel destinations, sensible precautions should be taken at all times. We advice that you check the status of your destination at a reputable site such as the UK FCO Travel Warnings or US Department of State Travel Advisories

I HAVE SO MANY MORE QUESTIONS, CAN WE TALK?

YES! We'd love to discuss any Botanical Journey questions. We can talk on the telephone (so old fashioned!) or chat virtually, just drop us a note and we'll set something up.
